Microalgae Biomanufacturing Lab

The Ward Research Group at the University of Waterloo is focused on using microalgae to produce renewable chemicals, biopharmaceuticals and bioproducts. This includes biofuels, biochemicals, and proteins. Our goal is to use the biorefinery concept to gain the maximum value from a single bioprocess by using all of the fractions for subsequent applications including biofuels, bioplastics, and high value specialty products like anti-viral isoprenoids.
